Five people have filed for the three Converse County #2 School Board seats up for election in November.
Two of the five – Jim P. Williams and Vicki Widiker – are incumbents. The other three candidates are Dustin S. Ailport, Brad Jones and Jared Williams.
All, except Widiker, list Glenrock addresses on their candidate forms. Widiker has a Rolling Hills address. All three positions are for four-year terms. Current board member Scott Lehner did not file for re-election.
The three top vote-getters in the Nov. 8 general election will take their seats on the board in early December. Because the school board and other special districts are nonpartisan positions, the candidates file later than the partisan (Republican, Democrat, Libertarian and Constitution parties) races, do not appear on the primary ballot, and take office in either December or January.
In addition to school board positions, other special districts will also have seats up at the election.  The positions and those who have filed are:
• Glenrock Cemetery District, three offices, all four-year terms – Ken Walker and Joyce Bryan.
• Glenrock Hospital District, three offices, all four-year terms – Kate A. Anfinson, John Moulton.
• Glenrock Hospital District, one office, two-year unexpired term – Jerry D. Street and Sharon Burns.
• Converse County Conservation District rural supervisor, one office, four-year term – Shelly Falkenburg.
• Converse County Conservation District rural supervisor, two offices, both two-year unexpired terms –Doug Horner of Shawnee, Gary R. Jacobson of rural Douglas.
• Converse County Conservation District urban supervisor, one office, four-year term – Susan Downs, Rochelle Wagner and Debra Kingery, all of Douglas.
For the Rolling Hills Town Council, two people qualified write-ins at the primary election. William White and Laura Terriere for the Rolling Hills Town Council’s four-year term. Martha Durand was the only candidate on the primary ballot, so all three names will appear on the general election ballot in November.
Taylor said there were no qualified write-ins for the Rolling Hills Town Council’s two-year unexpired term, so Kenneth Montgomery (the only person to file for the position in the primary election) will be the sole candidate for the seat at the general election.
