There are many fun and festive activities coming up at the Converse County Library (CCL) Glenrock in these closing weeks before Thanksgiving!
We are celebrating “Dinovember” all month long, so be sure to come in often and look for the hiding place of the elusive purple dinosaur, the “Herdersaurus!” Let us know each time you find him and you’ll be in the running for a prize. We’ll have one for each age group: children, teens and adults.
Upcoming adult events include a DIY class Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. to make vintage three-tiered serving plates from decorative plates in different sizes.
We will provide everything for the free class except the plates, which we ask each participant to bring from home. Go thrifting to find decorative china, porcelain or crystal, or hunt through your cabinets for odds and ends. These trays would make a great holiday hostess gift, or will look elegant at your own table. Sign up at 436-2573 or email Tamara Lehner at tlehner@conversecountylibrary.org
On Nov. 17 we’ll have two adult events, one in the afternoon, “Adult Cross Stitch & Craft Circle” from 2-4 p.m., and that evening, from 6-8 p.m., we will have a “Book Folding Class” in honor of both “Dinovember,” and “Family Stories Month!”
Participants may choose to create a folded book with a dinosaur pattern, or one that spells out “Family.” The class is free, but we do ask that you sign up in advance.
On Nov. 20, from 6-8 p.m., we invite business and organization leaders to come to an open house to learn more about everything your library can offer through the “Wyoming Library to Business” programs through the State Library. RSVP if you’d like to attend.
For kids and tweens, mark your calendars for “Storytime,” each Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 10-10:45 a.m. For “Dinovember” we are holding a very special “Dinosaur And Friends Sleepover Party!”
Kids may bring in their favorite dino or other toy anytime during the week (and at least by 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14). We will check them in, and they will stay overnight at the library, and if history serves, get up to all kinds of fun while alone in the building. Kids can watch a slide show of their antics the following week at “Storytime.”
The tweens can look forward to an awesome and highly anticipated “Laser Tag” event on Nov. 14 from 2-3:30 p.m. and a “Craft Day” to make “Gingerbread Foam Christmas Ornaments” on Nov. 19 from 4-5 p.m.
Teens will be busy with a cooking class Nov. 12 to make adorable dino cupcakes from 4:30-5:30 p.m., watching the movie “Godzilla” Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m., and of course, their “D&D Meetup” Nov. 14 from 4-6 p.m.
The monthly Converse County Library Board will be meeting Nov. 19 at 9:30 a.m. in the CCL Glenrock meeting hall. The public is welcome to attend.
You may always find more detailed information on our events in the weekly ad in this newspaper, on our website at yourccl.org, our FB page, and in our printed calendar available at the first floor service point.
Our hours are M, T, W, F from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and we are closed on Sundays.
