The Converse County Library Glenrock is thrilled to announce that we are back working in the main building, with heat and all the amenities! Please stop in soon and reacquaint yourself with our toasty warm and wonderful library!

NIGHTTIME TALES

CCL is bringing back a favorite program – Tam’s Nighttime Tales. Tamara is reading and recording one of the all-time classic novels of historical fiction, The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy. Interested parties may sign up with the library and via email receive a nightly installment of the book.

The Scarlet Pimpernel tells the fictional story of a daring British hero who risks his life to rescue members of the French aristocracy from the ghastly blades of the guillotine. No one knows his identity, but every time he rescues a victim, the enraged revolutionists find a note marked with a tiny red flower: The mark of the Scarlet Pimpernel! Join us and help prove that adults like bedtime stories too – kids shouldn’t get to have all the fun!

KID/TEEN ACTIVITIES

CCL Glenrock is continuing to offer their weekly programs for children, including Storytime on Facebook Live on Wednesdays at 10 a.m., and a new craft takeaway kit every week. Teen activities are held as game nights on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m., and D&D meetups on Fridays from 4-7 p.m.

ADULT FUN

March’s upcoming adult events include several crafting opportunities in celebration of both National Craft Month, and St. Patrick’s Day. Sign up ASAP for two free classes coming up next week: Luck O’The Irish wreath crafting class via Zoom March 2 at 6:30 p.m. and a miniature leprechaun garden Zoom craft class March 4 at 6:30 p.m. Please sign up at least 48 hours ahead of each class in order to receive your Zoom invitation and free craft kit.

We are eagerly anticipating our next countywide Book & Brew Club meeting March 8 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom, because we are reading bestselling author Elizabeth Berg’s The Story of Arthur Truluv.

Berg herself has graciously agreed to Zoom in for the discussion. Truluv is the first of a series of three books about the quirky and unforgettable residents of fictional Mason, Missouri. If you are not a member of the Book & Brew Club, but would like to join us for the event, contact Tamara.

FEBRUARY WINDS UP

February celebrates Responsible Pet Ownership Month, and we know you are all making sure your pets stay safe and warm during the coldest days of the year.

In addition, this month is “Bake for Family Fun” month, so consider whipping up something luscious with the kids this week. We can offer some help with that if needed – come in and check out one of our cookbooks or check out a cooking class through our Universal Class database or our CreativeBug Craft database. These databases are free to use with your library card and PIN.

If you have found yourself under-or unemployed during this difficult time, check out Universal Class and polish up that resume – or even learn new skills for the next chapter in your life.

In closing this week, we hope our patrons and friends are staying safe and warm during these chilly days.

You can call us at 307-436-2573 to check on our status, ask questions or sign up for any and all classes. You may also email Tamara at email tlehner@conversecountylibrary.org
