New home on the range

Summer is coming to a close. Kids are back in school, all the celebrations ending in “days” have concluded. Now, I get to see the calm Glenrock. Living here for four months has taught me that I am, in fact, a city slicker. I went to my first rodeo, I have eaten at every restaurant and, even visited all the stores with the exception of the Paleon (I’ll be there soon Bone Biddies). I have even ran into a few local folks along the way. The town comes together under all circumstances, good or bad. A sense of welcome and belonging seems to linger or everyone.

Now that is one thing I never gotten to experience coming from Pittsburgh, the camaraderie of a small community. Sure, big cites do have their conveniences, but living in a place where everyone you meet is excited to see you has its own special charm. I am new to Wyoming, its long traditions of the West and having an enveloping community of caregivers and friends. Everyday I meet someone new and, the next time I see them, they remember exactly who I am. I imagine it similar to being a cast member on “Cheers.” Glenrock, where everyone knows your name.
