Our new look
![]() |
You may have noticed the paper looks a little, well, bigger this week. We think it’s a good thing.
Due to the number of different papers we print every Wednesday (like the High Plains Sentinel in Wright), we have decided that in order to save time and costs in a dampened economy, we are switching to what – in the industry – is called “broadsheet” format. Previously, the paper had been “tab” size. This means that what was previously a 24-page Independent is now a 12-page Independent, with pages that are twice as large.
While the look may be jarring at first, we think over time it will improve the paper. With the additional space on each page we can run larger, more dramatic pictures. Plus, it allows us more options for our award-winning design.
We also added a larger “teaser” box to the front page so if you’re in a hurry, you can get a quick overview of what’s inside the paper.
The new size also added room on this page, our opinion page. Because of that, we are looking for local columnists and more letters to the editor. Have something on your mind? Don’t hesitate to send us a letter. As a reminder, we don’t accept anonymous submissions. If you’re interested in writing a regular column, please email us at independent@netcommander.com
While the look may be jarring at first, we htink over time it will improve the paper.
This is part of the February 4, 2010 online edition of The Glenrock Independent.
