In this day and age, doing nothing means moving backwards
![]() |
TO THE EDITOR:
Think about it. In this day of change and technology doing nothing means you are moving backwards. Everything is continually changing and moving forward and by us standing still, refusing to accept change, refusing to learn new ways of doing things, we will certainly be left behind.
Positive progressive leadership does not mean we have to embrace everything new, or all types of change, but we do have to adapt and make the best use of the circumstances we are faced with. And with all change there is some pain and learning that we must endure, always making sure we learn from our trials and experiences.
The basics: the pure drinking water, streets, sewers, sanitation, parks, weed and pest, and their maintenance is a major focus always. They are basics that are addressed daily. The basics to me implies the bare minimum, just enough to get by. Large scale projects must be planned for years in advance, monies allocated, grants and loans sought and budgeted, before they can be embarked upon. In the meantime daily maintenance is performed. Other projects take the forefront because funds for them are immediately available, through grants or loans, and those projects get completed. That certainly doesn’t mean the basics are being overlooked.
We cannot survive on the basics. We as a small town need to be aggressively pursuing things that will benefit our town, just as the big cities do. New technologies, whether we like it or not, are at our door and we need a mayor who is knowledgeable and willing to go for more than the basics. An approach that focuses on the whole picture is needed to be successful. Open communication, information sharing, and working together with Glenrock citizens for Glenrock is how I will approach the Glenrock mayor position. I won’t double talk, try to talk above you, or talk to hear myself talk. I will say what I mean and mean what I say. Let’s make Glenrock a place you proudly say you ARE from, not a place you’ve moved from.
Sue Dills,
Candidate for Glenrock Mayor
