Carol E. Spaulding
No funeral services for Carol E. Spaulding, 71, will be held at her request.
Carol Spaulding, a resident of Douglas, died Feb. 9, 2010, at Douglas Care Center.
She was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Douglas, the daughter of Martin and Dorothy Margaret (Crowe) Price. She was reared and educated in the Douglas schools, and graduated from Douglas High School.
She was married to Melvin Dean Hoffman on Aug. 24, 1957, in Douglas, and they resided on the Hoffman Ranch north of Shawnee.
Melvin died in 1982, and she was married to Richard Spaulding in Glenrock. They enjoyed traveling about to various fishing holes around the United States. They took up permanent residency in Grand Isle, La., where they continued with their fishing. Her favorite passtimes were fishing, painting and gardening. Ill health forced her to move back to Douglas in 2008 to be near her niece and sister.
She is survived by her sister, Kathie Diehl, of Douglas; nieces Traci Jenkins of Douglas and Jamie (Mike) Etchemendy of Miles City, Mont.; and numerous grand and greatgrandnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother Dorothy M. Gillespie on Jan. 17, 2007; step-father Lewis William Gillespie on March 22, 1970; husbands Melvin on June 23, 1982, and Richard in August 2007; and a niece Kelli Warren.
A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
