Christine Huber passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Wednesday, July 22, 2010.
Chris was born on May 14, 1942, in Munich, Germany, to Joseph and Maria Regensburger.
In 1967, Chris moved from Munich to El Paso, Texas, where she founded and successfully ran Tumbleweed Stables, a horse boarding and breeding stable. After 12 years Chris moved to Rainier, Wash., and in 1983 finally found her home in Glenrock. She was a feisty, hard working lady with a strong spirit and zest for life. Her legendary love of life besides her three children, five grandchildren and one greatgrandchild, (with another great-grandchild due within weeks) was animals, particularly horses and dogs.
Chris, along with her significant other, Rex Hankins, (recently relocated to assisted living in Orlando, Fla.), worked hard at their chosen vocation. Chris was known far and wide as a premier dog breeder with repeat customers from many states.
Chris is survived by her three children, Marcella Stoneking of Glenrock and Kerstin and Jason Smith of Orlando, Fla. Her surviving siblings are her brother William Regens, his wife, Diane and their son Chris of Urbana, Ill., and her sister Lisa Nadell with her two sons Jim and Frank of Carbondale, Colo.
As the patriarch of the family of her three children, her son-in-law, Orvie Stoneking, daughter-in-law Debbie Smith, grandchildren Brandee, Jessica, Joshua, Jonathan, and Justin and her special great-grandchild Baily, Chris will be remembered for her strength of will and indomitable spirit.
Chris was an example of life to all of us and we all wish her well on her new journey. We know she is perched high above surrounded by dogs and smiling down at all of us.
We miss you greatly Grandma. We love you and know you have been re-acquainted with your beloved animals and friends and family.
Until we meet again Grandma . . .Prost! You made it and our love is only equaled by our pride.
Cremation services have been performed and Chris personally requested no services.
In lieu of flowers, Chris requests her friends and family to forward donations to The Humane Society of the United States at P.O. Box 97015, Washington, D.C. 20077-7269.
This is part of the July 29, 2010 online edition of The Glenrock Independent.
